Students from the Nursing and Midwifery Department of the Denpasar Ministry of Health Polytechnic collaborated with students from the Midwifery Department of the Universite Catholique de Lile, France to simulate emergency care in cases of pregnant women with post-partum hemorrhage.
In this simulation, previous scenarios have been put together and during the simulation, the case is read by one of the students from France. There are 3 students from the Nursing Department who have their own roles and duties. Nurse 1 is tasked with administering an intramuscular injection of 0.2 mg methylghometrine. Nurse 2 is in charge of installing RL infusion along with oxytocin with a drip drip. And nurse 3 is tasked with checking vital signs in pregnant women. Meanwhile, there were 3 students majoring in midwifery who took part in the simulation activity, where midwife 1 was tasked with massaging the uterine fundus, examining the bladder and reporting the condition of the patient’s bladder. Meanwhile, midwife 3 is tasked with being the leader in the simulation process, giving instructions to each nurse and midwife regarding their duties. And midwife 3 is tasked with paying attention to uterine contractions and bleeding that occurs.
The simulation process went very well and received appreciation from the audience who were invited delegates from WHO SEARO, Director of Health Workforce Provision of the Republic of Indonesia, Association of Indonesian Nursing Vocational Education Institutions (AIPViKI), Director of HRH Provision, WHO Indonesia, Association of Health Polytechnics of the Indonesian Ministry of Health (APKESI ), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), as well as several other important invitees.
